Iowa forward Jack Nunge looks to break into the starting lineup this season after redshirting in 2018-19 to add strength and further develop his game. Nunge says he has gained 10-15 pounds and is now listed at 245 pounds.

Tennessee's offense has been excellent (52.2 percent shooting, two turnovers in 12:04), but its defense has been just as superb. The Vols are collapsing well on Luka Garza and Tyler Cook, the latter now 0-of-4 from the field. They are also preventing Joe Wieskamp from driving the baseline. The Hawkeyes aren't finding any offensive flow, and their defense, so good against Cincinnati in the second half, hasn't slowed down a much faster Tennessee team.

Iowa's Joe Wieskamp, the all-time leading scorer in Iowa Class 4A high school history, once scored his team's first 31 points in a game against Bettendorf. "It was what we call the cake auction, a huge fundraiser for our school [Muscstine], so the gym was absolutely packed," he said. "It was standing-room only. It was a lot of fun that night."

Iowa keeps Big Ten perfect, rallies 79-72 over Cincinnati

Luka Garza scored 20 points, Jordan Bohannon made a three-point play during Iowa's closing surge, and the 10th-seeded Hawkeyes kept the Big Ten perfect in the NCAA Tournament by rallying for a 79-72 victory over No. 7 seed Cincinnati on Friday.

Iowa HC McCaffery credits defense in upset over Cincinnati (1:12)

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery on keeping his cool when the Hawkeyes were down 18-5: "When you see me get hot-blooded, there are various reasons for that, and it happens, despite what some people might think, very rarely. It doesn't happen very much in practice. It doesn't happen much in the locker room, at halftime. Oh, that coach went in there and yelled at them? No. But at crunch time and in key moments of the game, you can't lose your mind and start yelling at them. It's only going to lead to more mistakes.

Iowa's Joe Wieskamp told me he doesn't consider himself a freshman despite the designation next to his name, and hasn't all season. He said he's played in plenty of big games before today. After a turnover on his first touch against Cincinnati, Wieskamp was nearly flawless with 19 points (4-of-6 on 3-pointers) with five rebounds and a steal. Iowa forward Luka Garza told me the team never lost confidence despite a poor stretch to the regular season.
