Vela scores wonder-goal as LAFC beat San Jose

Carlos Vela continued his stellar season with two goals to lead LAFC to a 4-0 victory over the visiting San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday night.

LAFC 3-0 San Jose Earthquakes at half-time. Carlos Vela with two goals to take him up to 26 for the season. His second was memorable, evading four opposition players and nonchalantly stroking the ball in. Earthquakes coach Matias Almeyda was sent off five minutes before half-time for arguing with the officials. It's going to take a minor miracle for the Earthquakes to get back into this one, even if they did have a strong penalty shout and a couple of chances.

San Jose Earthquakes hoping to break a three-game winless streak tonight here in LA, but it doesn't get much tougher than a trip to Banc of California Stadium. LAFC has scored 12 goals over its last four games and is 16 points clear at the top of the Western Conference. Mexican Carlos Vela looking for his 25th goal of the season ... in his 25th game.
