Tuesday marks the beginning of the two-week window in which teams can designate franchise (or transition) tag players, something the Seahawks haven't done since 2010 with kicker Olindo Mare. Sheldon Richardson is their only realistic candidate for the tag this year, though the cost may make that prohibitive. Losing Richardson in free agency would be a blow to a defensive line that may already be without a lot of firepower in 2018 with Cliff Avril and Malik McDowell both injured and Michael Bennett a candidate to be released. It's a matter of cost, though. The franchise tag for defensive tackles is projected at around $14.5 million. That would represent an increase of more than $6 million from what Richardson made in 2017, and it would eat up all of the cap space Seattle currently has available. Richardson had one sack and a handful of impact plays in 2017 as he adjusted to Seattle's 4-3 defense, something he admitted wasn't easy having played in a 3-4 his first four seasons. If the Seahawks end up tagging Richardson (or signing him to a long-term deal), this much will be clear: they expect greater production now that he has a full year in their defense under his belt.

Seahawks right tackle Germain Ifedi was one of 32 NFL players to not miss a snap in 2017, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. Interestingly, three former Seahawks offensive linemen are on that list as well: Max Unger, Breno Giacomini and James Carpenter -- all of whom had varying degrees of injury issues with Seattle. Recall that Unger missed 13 games over his final two seasons in Seattle. It's believed that durability concerns were among the reasons the Seahawks were willing to send him to New Orleans in the Jimmy Graham trade. Unger has missed only one game in three seasons with New Orleans. Go figure.

Barnwell: Offseason moves to improve every NFC team

Seattle has big decisions to make on the Legion of Boom. The Saints need to lock up Drew Brees. The Vikings need to sign a quarterback. Here are five offseason moves to improve all 16 NFC teams.

The Salvation Army Northwest announced that it raised over $1,700 from an online auction for the autographed jersey that Seahawks cornerback Justin Coleman wore in the team's Christmas Eve win over the Cowboys. Coleman celebrated a pick-six in that game by leaping into a giant Salvation Army kettle, which drew a flag but not a fine from the NFL. The Salvation Army says the proceeds from the auction will benefit its programs and services in Seattle.

A misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession against Seahawks quarterback Trevone Boykin has been dismissed, according to online court records and a Dallas County spokesperson. The charge stemmed from an arrest last March in Dallas following a car accident. Boykin was a passenger in a car that drove into a bar, injuring eight people, according to police. A motion to dismiss the marijuana charge read that Boykin "has completed all conditions in accordance with the terms of the conditional dismissal agreement." The 24-year-old Boykin backed up Russell Wilson as an undrafted rookie in 2016 and spent the 2017 season on Seattle's practice squad. He was signed to a futures contract after the season.

In addition to strong safety Kam Chancellor, three other Seahawks will have either a portion of their 2018 base salary or the full amount become fully guaranteed today. They are: quarterback Russell Wilson ($4.9 million of $15.5 million), wide receiver Doug Baldwin ($4.5 million of $8.25 million) and center Justin Britt (all $2.75 million). None of those players are in any danger of being released, so it's merely a formality in each case.

Brady Henderson ESPN

This is a significant day for Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor. If he remains on the roster through Friday, which is expected, his $6.8 million base salary for 2018 becomes fully guaranteed. Right now, it's only guaranteed for injury. Chancellor suffered a career-threatening neck injury in November. He's not expected to retire any time soon because that could mean forfeiting his 2018 and '19 salary guarantees, which total $12 million. Releasing him before his '18 salary becomes fully guaranteed could open the door for a grievance as he's currently injured. So it seems likely that Chancellor will remain with the Seahawks next season even if he's unable to play.

CB Sherman, with no agent, expects to be back

Richard Sherman has no doubt in his mind that he will bounce back from his Achilles surgery and return to the Seahawks' secondary next season. Sherman, who revealed Thursday he no longer has an agent, is entering the final year of his current deal.

Brady Henderson ESPN

Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman revealed that he's acting as his own agent when asked about his contract situation. He's entering the final year of his deal, which is when Seattle has tended to extend its core players. "I'm sure we'll have some communication," he said. "I'm representing myself. The whole agent thing is really overrated at this point." Sherman said he's been representing himself for a year or so. He was previously represented by Ben Dogra of CAA and then Relativity Sports.

Asked if there's any doubt in his mind that he'll be back with the Seahawks next season, cornerback Richard Sherman said, "Not in my mind." Sherman is coming off a ruptured Achilles and entering the final year of his contract. He said his recovery from Achilles surgery is ahead of schedule and that he has an upcoming cleanup procedure on the same part of his other foot. Sherman also said he's now acting as his own agent.

Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is out of the walking boot and off the knee scooter he was using following surgery to repair a ruptured right Achilles, an injury he suffered in November. Sherman was also scheduled to have a cleanup procedure after the season on the same part of his other foot. He's presenting John Clayton with the Keith Jackson Award at the 83rd Annual MTR Western Sports Star of the Year Awards in Seattle.

A QB in pinstripes: Russell Wilson on becoming a Yankee

Hours after being acquired by the Bronx Bombers, Russell Wilson goes deep on his pinstripe dream coming true, his baseball/football future and, well, going deep with Stanton and Judge in BP.

Some clarification on Seahawks center Justin Britt's contract: The three-year extension he signed last offseason includes a $5 million option bonus that can be exercised between the first and fifth day of the new league year, or March 14-18. If exercised -- which is expected -- Britt receives a $5 million bonus and his contract runs through 2020. Declining the option would void only the final season of the contract -- 2020 -- as opposed to the final two seasons as has been reported. That $5 million would then be added to Britt's 2018 base salary, bumping it from $2.75 million to $7.75 million. But picking up the option is likely just a formality. Also, the $2.75 million salary for 2018, guaranteed only for injury at the moment, becomes fully guaranteed on Friday.
