Statement from the Jets: "The New York Jets organization is very proud that Woody Johnson was officially sworn in today as ambassador of the United States of America to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. As previously announced, Christopher Johnson has taken over the role of New York Jets chairman and CEO."

The Jets avoided the total solar eclipse by practicing indoors. In fact, they didn't even practice; it was just a 90-minute walk-through, ending at 2:30 ET. Afterward, some players went outside to view the eclipse with protective glasses. Todd Bowles said the eclipse had nothing to do with the change in practice plans. He said he wanted a light day to allow the team to recover physically from Saturday night's game.

Jets QB Christian Hackenberg took the blame for the sack/fumble on the third play on Saturday night's loss to the Lions. "We could've checked to something else, probably maxed it, got some protection," said Hackenberg, who was crushed by the unblocked Cornelius Washington. "It was a good learning experience. I thought they were bringing something and they adjusted, and they did a good job of bringing what I thought they weren't going to bring." Translation: He got outfoxed by the Lions.

Jets injury report: LB Lorenzo Mauldin's back injury is healing "slowly," per coach Todd Bowles, who said Mauldin may need an epidural shot to relieve pain. Not good news for the third-year linebacker, who could lose his starting job and perhaps his roster spot. LB Darron Lee (illness) and S Rontez Miles (eye laceration) didn't participate in practice, which was just a walk through. RB Matt Forte (hamstring) was present and did light work on the side.

Jets QB Josh McCown has had only nine preseason game reps. Did he want to play on Saturday night? Did he need to play?

Jets QB Josh McCown said he wanted to play on Saturday night, but understood why the coaches wanted to start Christian Hackenberg.

Jets coach Todd Bowles wouldn't say definitively that RB Matt Forte (hamstring) will be ready for Week 1.

Jets LB Lee cleared in music festival altercation

The NFL will not discipline Jets linebacker Darron Lee under the personal conduct policy following its investigation into his altercation with a woman at a New York City music festival in June.

Jets players Darron Lee and Leonard Williams have been cleared by the NFL with regard to offseason incident at NYC concert. "Following a review, we concluded there was insufficient evidence to support a finding that there was a violation of the personal conduct policy," league spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement to ESPN. Lee got into an argument with his girlfriend, according to coach Todd Bowles, and was forcibly removed from the altercation by Williams. The incident was caught on cell phone video and went viral.

Through 15 practices and two games, this is the unofficial tally for the Jets' quarterbacks: Christian Hackenberg 365 snaps, Josh McCown 332 and Bryce Petty 227. All things considered, that's about as even as could be expected.

Checking out the Jets' snap counts from last night: The most noteworthy player is WR Charone Peake, who played only two of 59 offensive snaps. He saw his reps reduced last week in practice, as they used Robby Anderson, Jalin Marshall and Chris Harper as their top three. Rookie Chad Hansen (33 snaps) led all WRs. Fellow rookie ArDarius Stewart had 17. Other rookies: S Jamal Adams and S Marcus Maye 37 apiece, TE Jordan Leggett 23, LB Dylan Donahue 23, WR Gabe Marks 19, RB Elijah McGuire 14 and CB Derrick Jones 8.

So why did Jets coach Todd Bowles decide to sit Josh McCown? On Thursday, Bowles said McCown "will play" against the Lions. "He needs work." After tonight's game, Bowles said he and his staff decided McCown didn't need the work. "Josh has played in a million preseason games," Bowles said. Clearly, Bowles still was in audition/experimental mode. This really puts the pressure on McCown and the offense to get in sync next week against the Giants, assuming he rests his starters in the finale.

Jets QB Christian Hackenberg on whether he's discouraged by his performance: "No, it's fine. It's all part of the process. You can't look at numbers or stats or anything like that, in my opinion. You have to look at what it was, go back to the tape, review it ... Overall, I think it was a good learning experience." (Courtesy: ESPN New York 98.7).
