Explaining the decision to cut WR Jalin Marshall, Jets coach Todd Bowles said they needed a backup slot corner against the Patriots. That's why they signed CB Xavier Coleman from the practice squad. He backed up Buster Skrine. Darryl Roberts and Juston Burris are perimeter cornerbacks. So was Marcus Williams, who was cut last week. To make room for Coleman, they cut Marshall because he was an "extra receiver," per Bowles. He didn't rule out re-signing him at some point.

Jets coach Todd Bowles was in no mood to rehash the controversial fumble. "I don't give two shakes about it," he said. He added, "That wasn't the reason we lost the game. We've moved on from that. It doesn't change. We're not gonna cry about it all week. We have to go play Miami."

Both Leonard Williams and Steve McLendon said they believe the Jets are good enough to contend for the playoffs. But McLendon added, "In order to have a playoff team, we have to beat Miami" this week.

Jets QB Josh McCown took the high road on the controversial fumble, saying it's time to move on even though he's still not sure why an apparent TD was over-turned: "The league is putting a lot of resources into trying to get those things right. Ultimately, when you bring in replay and send it to the league office and everybody is looking, you hope all those eyes on it make the best decision. ... Obviously, when it doesn't go your way, there's a human element that's very frustrated."

Officiating czar stands by call to nullify Jets TD

Al Riveron, the NFL's head of officiating, stood by his call to overturn Austin Seferian-Jenkins' touchdown catch against the Patriots, saying it was "clear and obvious" that the Jets tight end fumbled the ball.

Jets offensive snap analysis (based on 76): RB – Matt Forte 44, Eli McGuire 25, Lawrence Thomas 13, Travaris Cadet 8; TE – Austin Seferian-Jenkins 58, Eric Tomlinson 35; WR – Jermaine Kearse 61, Robby Anderson 58, Jeremy Kerley 47, ArDarius Stewart 14, Chad Hansen 11. Analysis: Forte, coming off a two-week toe injury, nearly matched his season-high in snap percentage. Stewart has seen an uptick in PT in recent weeks. This was Hansen's biggest day since Week 1. It was a season-high for Cadet.

Jets defensive snap analysis (based on 68): DL – Leo Williams 55, Mo Wilkerson 53, Kony Ealy 36, Steve McLendon 24, Mike Pennel 16, Ed Stinson 13; LB – Demario Davis 68, Darron Lee 68, Jordan Jenkins 38, David Bass 28, Josh Martin 26, Bruce Carter 1; DB – Jamal Adams 68, Mo Claiborne 67, Marcus Maye 66, Buster Skrine 62, Darryl Roberts 40, Rontez Miles 9, Terrence Roberts 7, Xavier Coleman 3. Analysis: Gutty effort by Wilkerson, who played despite two injuries and no practice time. Juston Burris is healthy, but took a goose egg. He was at the bottom of the CB pecking order, behind rookie Coleman, who made his debut.

Jets QB Josh McCown suggested he wasn't totally to blame on his interception before halftime. "It was just something Robby (Anderson) and I need to keep working on, just the angles of his routes and how we're going to do things and the location of the ball," he said. "I promise you, we'll get better at that."
