Gronkowski tells Belichick he'll play in 2018

Tight end Rob Gronkowski posted on Instagram Tuesday that he has met with Patriots coach Bill Belichick and told him that he will be playing this season, ending speculation that Gronkowski might retire.

The Patriots officially announced the signing of free-agent OT Ulrick John. The 25-year-old John, who entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick of the Colts in 2014, has played in 10 career games (3 starts). He adds depth at a time when rosters are at 90 players. The Patriots' OT depth chart includes Marcus Cannon, LaAdrian Waddle, Cole Croston, António Garcia, Andrew Jelks and John.

The Patriots had free-agent offensive linemen Ulrick John (Packers) and Sebastian Tretola (Titans) in for workouts on Monday. With rosters at 90 players, the team has room to explore more depth at different spots. John has appeared in 10 career games (3 starts) and Tretola has appeared in one. John entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick of the Colts in 2014 out of Georgia State, while Tretola was a sixth-round pick of the Titans in 2016 out of Arkansas.

Horse named after Gronk will miss Derby

The horse named after Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski developed a fever over the weekend and is unable to travel to Churchill Downs to run in the Kentucky Derby.

Former Patriots broadcaster Santos dies at 80

Gil Santos, who spent 36 seasons as the radio voice of the New England Patriots died Thursday, his 80th birthday. Santos retired after the 2012 season and was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame in 2013.
