Chargers QB Philip Rivers said he's talked to Melvin Gordon and clarified his comments on the RB's holdout situation that he felt have been misconstrued nationally. "I know Melvin knows I'm pulling for him," Rivers said. "And in saying that, that means you want what's best for him. You want him to feel great. You him to be at peace with how it all ends, and hopefully it's right here. He knows that. I doubt anything I said will make PFT headlines, but I think those that know me will know that's what I meant all along."

Chargers QB Easton Stick had this to say about his first action in an NFL game. "It's a preseason game, but to learn a little bit about what the routine might look like and go through a pregame and get yourself ready to play [was good]. Then, obviously, to go out there — it's live bullets for the first time — it was a lot of fun and definitely a huge learning experience."

Anthony Lynn provided no update on Melvin Gordon's holdout from training camp, but did say he liked how the running back group played in the Wisconsin product's absence. “I thought the group, as a whole, played pretty well,” he said. “I liked the way Austin [Ekeler] and [Justin] JJ [Jackson] ran the football. I do not like the fumble down inside the two [yard line]. You learn from it. You know, it's early, so he'll learn from it. First live contact -- sometimes it happens.”
