The Chiefs also placed backup linebacker Terrance Smith on IR with a knee injury. Smith played on some passing downs. He was replaced during last week's game by rookie Dorian O'Daniel, who played well. Offensive lineman Jimmy Murray and tight end Deon Yelder were promoted from the practice squad to the active roster.

The Chiefs took another hit on their offensive line when they placed Jordan Devey on injured reserve. Devey moved into the starting lineup recently after the Chiefs placed guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif on IR. The Chiefs also played last week without another starter, center Mitch Morse, who has a concussion. If Morse doesn't return for this week's game against the Broncos, the recently signed Jeff Allen could move into the starting lineup. Another option would be Austin Reiter, who was claimed off waivers from the Browns early in the season.

Patrick Mahomes pushed his 2018 season total to 190.9 fantasy points last night. Top five QBs in fantasy points through 7 team games (since 1950): Steve Young, 1998: 202.5 Peyton Manning, 2013: 194.3 Patrick Mahomes, 2018: 190.9 Aaron Rodgers, 2011: 188.4 Tom Brady, 2015: 186.4

With his 32.8 fantasy points last night, Patrick Mahomes now has 201.3 points in the first eight starts of his NFL career. That's the most through eight starts by any quarterback since at least 1950, surpassing Deshaun Watson's previous mark of 197.0.

The win over the Bengals is the 200th of Andy Reid's career, counting the playoffs. Reid had little to say, though, about the milestone. "That's an individual thing,'' he said. "I'm not real good with that.''

Pat Mahomes is wearing one of his father's baseball jerseys after Sunday night's win.

"We're going to try to get a couple more." — Andy Reid on Patrick Mahomes, who has an NFL record 22 TD passes in his first eight career games.

"I haven't seen that one before. He elevated pretty good." — Chiefs coach Andy Reid on Kareem Hunt's first quarter hurdle of Bengals safety Jessie Bates.

This is Patrick Mahomes has sixth straight game with 300-plus yards. Andrew Luck was the last QB to do that, in 2014. Mahomes' streak is the longest in Chiefs history.

Just another of what's becoming a routine half tonight for Patrick Mahomes against the Bengals. He's 19-of-25 for 234 yards and three TDs as the Chiefs lead 24-7 at halftime. The Chiefs scored on four of their five possessions, the failure coming when Harrison Butker missed a field goal attempt for the first time this season. Mahomes and the Chiefs will have the chance to inflict more damage to start the second half. They'll receive the kickoff.

That's three TD passes tonight for Patrick Mahomes, none to receivers named Hill, Kelce or Watkins. The Chiefs have that much going for them offensively.

The Chiefs were in all sorts of disarray on Cincinnati's touchdown drive. They committed three penalties, including two for having 12 players on the field. They also had trouble staying with A.J. Green, who is already over 100 yards midway through the second quarter.

Seven games into the season, Patrick Mahomes has 20 TD passes. That's 10 away from the 54-year-old team record and six shy of the 26 that Alex Smith threw last season.

It's looking like Kareem Hunt's night. He had 56 of the Chiefs' 95 yards on their opening drive, including a six-yard TD catch.

LB Tanoh Kpassagnon will be active for the Chiefs tonight after missing last week's game because of an ankle injury. I'm still expecting rookie Breeland Speaks to start in place of Justin Houston but Kpassagnon should play.

Newly signed offensive lineman Jeff Allen will be available to play for the Chiefs tonight but won't be in the starting lineup. The Chiefs will again go with Jordan Devey at center in place of the injured Mitch Morse at center and Andrew Wylie at right guard in place of the injured Laurent Duvernay-Tardif.
