On what it would take for a coaches' challenge to work on a potential pass interference penalty that wasn't called, Broncos coach Vic Fangio said Monday: "It's going to have to be a five-car pile up I guess for them to overturn something.''

On quarterback Brandon Allen's play Sunday, coach Vic Fangio said Monday: "That was a tough environment ... it can get loud there. I thought he did well, I thought he handled the huddle well, there was a couple times he was having a hard time hearing the communication from the coaches ... but overall I thought he did well handling the environment.''

Monday Broncos coach Vic Fangio said it's "unlikely'' rookie quarterback Drew Lock would be activated this week to be the backup quarterback for Sunday's game in Buffalo. Did offer it was possible, however also said Lock would not be the player added in the roster spot to be filled after fullback Andy Janovich's injury because the Broncos will need the player at another position -- Janovich will miss the remainder of the season with the elbow injury he suffered Sunday.

After a 27-23 loss to the Vikings Sunday when the Broncos didn't protect a 20-0 halftime lead, Von Miller said: “There are no moral victories. We lost, that sucks.'' But Miller also used the word "fun'' as he tried to explain his optimism for the future: "Of course we want it go our way, of course we want to win, but our process, the way we prepared this week, from start to finish, from the No. 1 player on the roster to the last player on the roster . We played a hell of game, we came up short.'

Broncos coach Vic Fangio on the melee Thursday night in the closing seconds of the Steelers-Browns game: "It was bad, what can I say? By all parties involved, it's unfortunate thing that happened and guys are paying a steep price for it and it's no good.'' And on keeping composure in games, Fangio said: "From Day 1, we've talked about not having post-whistle penalties and pre-snap penalties ... I don't believe we've had a (post-whistle) penalty this year. We talk about it all the time.''

Broncos coach Vic Fangio said Friday cornerback Bryce Callahan will have surgery "soon'' to replace a screw in his foot. The screw was bent in a training camp practice this past summer and stem cell treatments Callahan had earlier this season did not alleviate the pain. Fangio said Callahan should be ready to participate at least some in the offseason workouts next spring and be ready for the 2020 season.

Broncos coach Vic Fangio said after Friday's practice WR Tim Patrick will be moved from injured reserve to the active roster Friday or Saturday so CB Bryce Callahan (foot) will go to injured reserve to create the roster spot. It means Callahan will not have played a snap this season after signing a three-year, $21 million contract this past offseason.

Hue to lead Kap workout; at least 13 teams to go

The NFL released more details about Colin Kaepernick's scheduled workout in Atlanta on Saturday, saying Thursday that Hue Jackson will lead the drills. At least 13 teams have committed to attend.

Broncos coach Vic Fangio has said rookie quarterback Drew Lock would get some limited work with the Broncos offense in practice as well as some scout team snaps. Thursday, Fangio was asked how many snaps, specifically, Lock was getting with the Broncos offense (does not include scout team snaps) and said: "Eight to 10, which doesn't sound like a lot, but the offense is only getting about 38, 39 snaps total. So, when you look at it that way it's pretty significant.''

Broncos coach Vic Fangio said cornerback Bryce Callahan (foot), who had practiced for the first time since July on Tuesday, was not expected to practice Thursday. Callahan also did not practice Wednesday. "It's looking more and more like he'll go to IR at some point unless we have a change,'' Fangio said. Asked if that could be the move to formally get wide receiver Tim Patrick moved from injured reserve to the roster this weekend, Fangio added "Possibly, yeah.''
