play
Adams chucks football pass to Westbrook for slam (0:20)

Royce Young ESPN Staff Writer

The Thunder got a spark from their bench, but the starters couldn't continue the push as the Wolves lead at half 61-54. Westbrook has 9 on just 3-10 shooting which includes a number of misses at the rim. Melo has 8 on 4-8, George 6 on 3-9. It's the other guys that have kept OKC close (Adams with 14 on 7-8, Felton with 10 on 4-5).

Westbrook goes full court for the layup (0:21)

The Thunder trailed by as many as 13 in the opening quarter against the Wolves, but like last night in Utah, Carmelo Anthony plus the bench put together a 9-1 run to end the quarter to have it 28-23. Westbrook, though, struggled again finishing at the rim, starting just 1-5 from the field after a rough 2-11 performance last night.

Russell Westbrook has taken a noticeably different approach to the first two games this season, but he doesn't see it as a change.

Paul George on the Thunder's ugly loss to the Jazz: "Honestly, I'm happy we got this blow early."

Royce Young ESPN Staff Writer

That's it for the Thunder as the starters take a seat down 15 with 1:32 left. Westbrook finishes with 6 points on 2-11 shooting, plus 7 turnovers (13 rebounds and 9 assists). The only game last season Westbrook scored in single-digits was the final one, where he only played in the first half against Denver. Melo finished with 26, George with 22.

play
Westbrook bounces it to Adams for two (0:15)

Things nobody said last season: The Thunder are making a comeback with Russell Westbrook on the bench. Down 73-57 to start the fourth, the second unit plus Melo have cut it to 76-69.

play
George drives, finishes with authority (0:17)

Royce Young ESPN Staff Writer

The Thunder finally shook loose a bit in the third offensively, but it was the other side that became problematic. Utah leads 73-57 headed to the fourth. George with 19, Melo 17, but Westbrook with only 3 on 1-9 shooting (12 rebonds and 8 assists though). Westbrook is clearly trying to navigate a new world of managing his aggression with his two new teammates.

Royce Young ESPN Staff Writer

Four straight scores (three from Melo, one from George) and the Thunder are up to 34 points at half. They're fortunate to just be down 10 to the Jazz. George has 11, Westbrook has only 2, but 10 rebounds, Melo has 10 on 5-14 shooting.

Royce Young ESPN Staff Writer

There's 3:33 left in the second quarter. The Thunder have 19 points. And somehow, it's looked even worse than that.

Royce Young ESPN Staff Writer

Really ugly opening quarter for the Thunder in Utah. Just 14 points, and while a lot of it had to do with missing some pretty good looks -- especially in the paint -- the lack of flow is noticeable.

George moves media scrum out of Westbrook's way (0:37)

Paul George's media scrum was blocking the way off the court after shootaround. Russell Westbrook let him know about it. But George wasn't mad about it. "Hey, that's the man getting me easy looks."
