Colorado starter Tyler Chatwood dug himself an early hole against the Giants and now the Rockies' lead for the second NL wild card is in jeopardy after a 4-0 loss to last-place San Francisco on Wednesday, the club's third straight defeat.

Tuesday's longest home runs

It was a tight race at the top, with Kyle Schwarber's laser to right-center narrowly edging out Hunter Pence and Justin Upton. Oakland's Matt Chapman and Tampa Bay's Brad Miller round out the group.

BBTN: HR Records Fall, Giants' Rebuild, Thames, Chapman

In addition to catching up with Brewers slugger Eric Thames and A's 3B Matt Champman, Buster Olney talks to Tim Kurkjian and Paul Hembekides about the MLB home run record, the launch angle "fad," the Giants' rebuild and whether the Nationals are the NL's team to beat.

Contending Rockies lose early lead, fall to Giants 4-3

Charlie Blackmon had a two-run double in the second inning for his first career 200-hit season, but the contending Colorado Rockies couldn't hold the early lead and lost 4-3 to the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night.

Power Rankings: Giants hit new low

The Giants are one game behind the Phillies for the worst record in baseball and 39 games behind the MLB-leading Dodgers. And now they can add No. 30 in our rankings to the list.

Giants to exercise option on LHP Moore

The San Francisco Giants will exercise their 2018 club option for left-hander Matt Moore, a 2013 All-Star who has struggled this year, going 5-14 with a 5.39 ERA.

Darvish, Bellinger combine to lead Dodgers past Giants 4-1

Yu Darvish and two relievers combined on a five-hitter, Cody Bellinger hit his 37th home run and the Los Angeles Dodgers won back-to-back games for the first time in nearly three weeks, beating the San Francisco Giants 4-1 on Wednesday night.

Dodgers look to make it two in a row vs. Giants

Yu Darvish hasn't posted his typical numbers in ERA and WHIP since he was dealt to the Dodgers, while Giants starter Matt Moore has struggled all season. San Francisco doesn't have a player with 20 homers, while Los Angeles has two: Cody Bellinger and Yasiel Puig (25).

Golic challenges 1916 Giants' 'longest winning streak' (1:53)

As one Dodgers fan messaged me about Buster Posey stepping up to the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth: "I thought he was going to hit a grand slam." Instead, Kenley Jansen struck him out on a 3-2 fastball and then Jansen whiffed Nick Hundley on three pitches and the Dodgers' 11-game losing streak was over. If that was tense for Dodgers fans -- and it was -- now imagine what an actual playoff game will feel like.

Kelby Tomlinson sneaks a home run over the fence in left field as the Giants strike first. Clayton Kershaw looks down in disbelief and shame, not quite believing that he just gave up a home run to Kelby Tomlinson -- the first of the season for him and just the third of his career. Is it wrong to assume it's going be another one of those nights for the Dodgers?

Giants' 2018 schedule released

San Francisco will open the 2018 season in a four-game series in Los Angeles vs. the Dodgers, followed by a two-game series at home vs. Seattle. Then the Giants have 13-straight games vs. in-conference opponents.

Puig shows power

Yasiel Puig's 441-foot solo shot in the Dodgers' loss to the Giants paced Monday's longest home runs. Adam Engel's 426-foot, three-run blast in the White Sox's blowout win over the Royals ranked second. Todd Frazier, Denard Span and Ryan Goins round out the list.

Dodgers' skid at 11, longest since move to L.A.

The National League-leading Dodgers lost their 11th straight game for the longest skid since the club moved to Los Angeles, finishing their 8-6 defeat to the San Francisco Giants at 2:10 local time Tuesday morning.
