Kyle Seager hit a two-run double soon after right fielder Mark Canha appeared to lose a flyball in the sun, and the Seattle Mariners rallied in the eighth inning to beat the Oakland Athletics 6-3 on Sunday.

A source close to Edwin Encarnación told me that the 36-year-old slugger is disappointed to leave his teammates in Seattle, but happy about the trade to the Yankees, because they give him "a great chance" to return to the playoffs and win his first World Series ring.


Mariners lose to A's amid reports Encarnación headed to NY

King Felix tires, exits rehab start after 31 pitches

Mariners starter Felix Hernandez pulled himself out of Friday's rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma after 31 pitches due to fatigue. The team had hoped he'd throw between 50-60 pitches in his first outing since going on the IL with shoulder stiffness.


Polanco, Twins rally for 6-5 win vs. Mariners

Jorge Polanco scored the tying run on a wild pitch and Marwin Gonzalez hit the go-ahead RBI single during Minnesota's three-run rally in the eighth inning, giving the Twins a 6-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.

In a not-surprising late-inning rally, the Twins have scored three runs off the hapless Mariners bullpen in the bottom of the eighth to take a 6-5 lead. Jorge Polanco's hustle double was a key hit and Marwin Gonzalez's two-out single scored the go-ahead run. The Mariners' bullpen entered the game 28th in the majors in Win Probability Added.

Mariners activate 2B Gordon (wrist) from IL

Mariners second baseman Dee Gordon has been activated from the injured list after missing 19 games due to a bruised right wrist suffered when he was hit by a pitch last month.
