Jennings bids farewell to Chicago

Left-hander Dan Jennings, traded to the Rays on Thursday morning, took to Twitter not long after to express his thanks to the city of Chicago: "Can't put into words how much this city has meant to me and my family the last few years. I got to watch my daughter grow up here, enjoy the city, and best of all got to play baseball here for these passionate fans. Though we are excited for a new adventure in Tampa, we will miss Chicago dearly. Thanks to all the players, coaches, staff, and personnel I didn't get to say goodbye to. Goodbye Chicago."

Petricka returns for White Sox

The White Sox activated RHP Jake Petricka (elbow) from the 10-day disabled list Wednesday, filling the roster spot vacated by Anthony Swarzak upon his trade to the Brewers.

Keith Law ESPN Senior Writer

Ryan Cordell, heading to the White Sox for Anthony Swarzak, is a good athlete without a position, and at 25 he hasn't had any offensive success above A-ball. The Brewers originally acquired him from Texas as part of the Lucroy deal.

Bradford Doolittle ESPN Staff Writer

This is the kind of outing that makes Carlos Rodon a little maddening to watch. He allowed four runs, seven hits and three walks in four innings, burning through 98 pitches in the process. He's also struck out 11 -- the White Sox have recorded just one out on a ball in play so far. The last time a starter struck out 11 in four innings was Washington's Max Scherzer on June 6, according to ESPN Stats & Info. He went on to whiff 14 in seven frames. The Cubs' Jake Arrieta did it on June 5 of last season, and ended up with 12 Ks in five innings. Rodon, with that high pitch count, is done. Chris Beck is on to pitch the fifth for the White Sox.
