Power Rankings: Braves on the rise

It was only a matter of time before rookie shortstop Dansby Swanson came around. His improved play the last two weeks has been key to Atlanta winning seven of its last 10.

Revisiting preseason questions: Braves

In mid-February, we wondered if R.A. Dickey and Bartolo Colon had anything left in the tank. A quarter of the way through, the results haven't been promising.

Adams eager for chance as Braves' new 1B

One day after he was acquired from St. Louis, Matt Adams made his Braves debut Sunday against Washington, starting at first base and hitting fifth.

Tristan H. Cockcroft ESPN Senior Writer

Matt Adams' trade to Atlanta is as good a fit for his fantasy value as it is for the Braves in Freddie Freeman's absence. It'll be Adams' first time to play regularly since the first two months of 2015, and he'll enjoy a noticeable ballpark boost in a power-friendly venue for lefties in SunTrust Park. Adams is available in 99.1 percent of ESPN leagues, so if you're still hurting at the position with Freeman out, consider adding him for two months of possible .270-8 stats.

Christina Kahrl MLB Staff Writer

Everybody wins the Matt Adams trade. The Braves needed someone to fill Freddie Freeman's shoes for the next two months-plusat first base, the Cardinals needed the roster spot with Stephen Piscotty due back soon from the DL, and Adams needed to be liberated from the danger of ever starting in left field ever again. He makes a fine temp in Atlanta, and could be a good bench bat for them to flip to a contender after Freeman returns.

Braves acquire RHP Burgos from D-backs

The Atlanta Braves have added bullpen depth by acquiring right-hander Enrique Burgos from the Arizona Diamondbacks for cash considerations.

Eric Karabell ESPN Senior Writer

Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson has a homer, a walk and now a double in his 38th game of the season. Last season in his 38 big league games he certainly hit better, but he's improved this month. He's going to hit for average. He's going to return to the No. 2 lineup spot. While he has two homers in four games he's not a power hitter but one of the best ways for fantasy owners to raise their team batting average is to invest in struggling players who will raise theirs. Swanson isn't a must-own in 10-team leagues but he really could hit .275 the rest of the season with 10 more homers.

ESPN Stats and Information

Dansby Swanson finally connected for a HR at SunTrust Park Friday night against the Nationals. His first 3 HR this season had come on the road.
