Werth, Nats unhappy after bizarre ending to win

Max Scherzer pitched two-hit ball over seven scoreless innings and Washington handed Atlanta its first loss at SunTrust Park, escaping a major jam in the ninth to beat the Braves 3-1 on Tuesday.

ESPN Stats and Information

Per the Elias Sports Bureau, Atlanta's 4–0 start at SunTrust Park marks the most consecutive wins at a new home stadium (that is, a new regular home field) by any MLB team since the Braves started 5–0 at their previous home, Turner Field, 20 years ago. (Brett Davis/USA TODAY Sports)

BBTN: Underrated Players, Ties In Baseball?

Buster Olney and Jayson Stark discuss why Freddie Freeman may be one of the games most underrated players, the biggest difference with the Cubs and more. Plus, Rob Biertempfel with some "Inside Heat" on the Pirates and "The Numbers Game" with Sarah Langs.

ESPN Stats and Information

Matt Holliday's 447-foot third-inning shot in the Yankees' win over the White Sox was the longest home run of Monday night, beating out Atlanta's Freddie Freeman, Cleveland's Michael Brantley, and Seattle's Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz.

ESPN Stats and Information

The Atlanta Braves' first walk-off hit in each of their 3 ballparks: Hank Aaron (Atlanta Stadium), Andrew Jones (Turner Field) and Dansby Swanson (SunTrust Park).

ESPN Stats and Information

Braves 1B Freddie Freeman is already feeling at home at new SunTrust Park. His two runs on Monday night came off Padres right-hander Jered Weaver in the third inning and lefty Ryan Buchner in the eighth.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

Freddie Freeman was the second-best hitter in the second half last year behind only Joey Votto, and he's picked right up, going 4-for-4 with two HRs and two doubles in a 5-4 win over the Padres to raise his season line to .400 with an .867 slugging percentage. So much for needing Matt Kemp as "protection."
