Auburn is the lowest remaining seed in the tournament as the No. 5 in the Midwest, but the Tigers again proved they're the rest of the field's worst nightmare. Auburn was fearless if not flawless in beating No. 1 seed North Carolina 97-80 in Kansas City to advance to Sunday's regional final against the winner of the Houston-Kentucky game. The Tigers didn't back down from North Carolina's fast pace. Well over half of Auburn's 66 shots were taken from three and the Tigers made 67 percent of those threes in the second half. The Tigers earlier took out Kansas by hitting 43 percent of their attempts from three. The only down note for Auburn was the loss of forward Chuma Okeke in the second half with an apparent knee injury. He was Auburn's leading scorer on Friday night with 20 points.

Auburn's Chuma Okeke is being helped off the floor with what appears to be a left knee injury. That's a huge loss for the Tigers. Okeke is their leading scorer tonight with 20 points.

North Carolina and Auburn played at a fast pace throughout the first half, combining to take 70 shots. Half of Auburn's shots have come from three and North Carolina almost matched that pace. Auburn is up 41-39 heading into the second half.

Auburn isn't backing down from North Carolina's pace. Fifteen of the Tigers' 26 shots have been from three. They've made just four, but they're still tied at 26 with just more than seven minutes left in the first half.

UNC's Little game-time call vs. Auburn with flu

North Carolina top reserve Nassir Little has flu-like symptoms and will be a game-time decision for Friday night's Sweet 16 Midwest Regional matchup against Auburn.

Adam Teicher ESPN Staff Writer

Like most people who watch North Carolina play, Auburn coach Bruce Peal is impressed with how quickly the Tar Heels play and how fast they get down the court to begin their offense. "If you watch Roy (Williams), he doesn't get upset very often,'' Pearl said. "But when he does, it's when his team gives up an offensive rebound (because) you took an opportunity away for them to get a basket. They look at every defensive rebound as three seconds away from a layup.'' But Pearl said the Tigers will also try to play at a fast pace Friday night when the teams meet in the Sweet 16 in Kansas City. "We can't slow down because that's how we try to play also,'' Pearl said.
