Kansas, Duke show why it's hard to beat the king

Kansas and Duke might not be in Final Four form, but Monday's comeback victories showed that they are significant factors in their conference races.

Duke's good and bad all on display in one night

When Duke is good, the Blue Devils might be the best team in the nation. When they're bad, they look like a young mess. They showed both against Miami.

Bagley pops shoulder back in, finishes Duke win

After Marvin Bagley III had his shoulder pop out of place shortly after tipoff against Miami on Monday, he went to the locker room, was able to pop it back in himself, and returned to play in Duke's 83-75 win.

Trent's 30 helps No. 5 Duke rally past Miami 83-75

Gary Trent Jr. scored a season-high 30 points and No. 5-ranked Duke needed less than three minutes to erase a 13-point second-half deficit, scoring 18 consecutive points to overtake No. 25 Miami 83-75 on Monday night.

It certainly was not pretty at times for Duke, between the turnovers and inability to score through a long stretch in the second half. But with Marvin Bagley III essentially contained, Gary Trent Jr. stepped up in a big way and the Blue Devils overcame a 13-point deficit to win.

The second half has been a game of runs: First Miami took the lead off a 16-0 run, and now Duke has taken back the lead with a 15-0 run of its own. Needless to say, this game is a microcosm for what Duke has done all season: a talented team that struggles on D but is nearly as unstoppable as any when the offense is clicking.

Miami has taken control in the second half, not only playing with a higher intensity level but also way more controlled. The Canes are forcing turnovers, scoring in transition and hitting 3s. Marvin Bagley III has been taken out of the game, and nobody else is in sync on offense for Duke.

Duke already has 15 turnovers tonight against Miami. Its season high is 19, against South Dakota in December.

Miami opened the second half on a quick 7-2 run, forcing Duke into more mistakes while getting a few more clutch plays from freshman Chris Lykes.

One thing you can bet Mike Krzyzewski is going to want to get cleaned up at halfime: turnovers. Duke had 12 turnovers in the first half, more than it averages over an entire game.

As if it needed to be said again, the freshmen talent Duke has across its roster makes it so good and so fun to watch. In the first half against Miami, Wendell Carter Jr. and Gary Trent Jr. took center stage, combining for 23 points as the Blue Devils have a small lead at halftime.

Duke freshman forward Wendell Carter Jr. has been difficult for Miami to slow down in the first half - he already has 10 rebounds and nine points and has been nearly unstoppable.

Marvin Bagley III has been a non-factor in the early going, and you wonder if getting banged up in the early going has had an effect. Bagley is 0-3 from the field, scoring both points on free throws, with 7:42 to go in the first half.

Miami freshman Chris Lykes has made his presence felt early for Miami, finding his way to make some big three-point plays to give the Canes their biggest spark in the early going.

Duke forward Marvin Bagley III returned to the floor after the first timeout after heading to the locker room to address a shoulder issue. Bagley appeared to get banged in the first minute of the game against Miami.

Purdue has almost caught Villanova in BPI's latest ratings and rankings. The model, which predicts team strength going forward, is not buying teams like Oklahoma, Arizona State and Kentucky the way the AP voters are.
