Deshaun Watson changes fantasy potential for Houston offense

It didn't take long for the rookie Deshaun Watson to go from backup to his first pro game action. AP Photo/Eric Christian Smith

Deshaun Watson's first drive for the Texans: 5-of-8 for 37 yards and a score, moving the ball effectively on mostly short throws. It's still a good start considering how poorly the Texans were moving the ball against this defense in the first half. If the permanent gig is Watson's -- it sure should be -- he's a matchups candidate right away, mainly thanks to his rushing-TD potential.

Watson's promotion might be a wrap for the Tom Savage era for the Texans, and it wasn't pretty: He had 16.1 fantasy points in his eight quarters played in the team's past four regular-season games, More importantly: There's no saying Watson will make the Texans as good a streaming play for opposing D/ST. He could -- and this team did afford 54 total fantasy points to D/STs with Savage in the game in his eight quarters -- but it's a different offense with Watson in there.
