It seems like we say this every year, but the quarterback position is deeper than ever in fantasy football. That means more legitimate candidates for a QB1 campaign, which means it's tougher than ever to separate quarterbacks into tiers. One way we can gain an edge is by examining each quarterback's rushing contributions.
For a long time, it was as simple as upgrading a rushing quarterback or three, but there are so many quick and athletic quarterbacks these days that we need to break it down into tiers. That's especially the case when you consider that Lamar Jackson scored a position-high 111.1 fantasy points with his legs last season, which was 110.4 more than Philip Rivers' total. In fact, if you flipped those two numbers, Rivers would've jumped from QB11 to QB2 in total fantasy points.
Below is a list of 36 quarterbacks who will (or could) see significant playing time in 2019. These 36 passers are split into five tiers, with Tier 1 including the biggest rushing contributors and Tier 5 the non-factors. Projections and a note or two for each player are also included.
