Strawweight world titlist Carlos Licona (14-0, 2 KOs), 23, of Westminster, California, will make his first defense against DeeJay Kriel (14-1-1, 6 KOs), 23, on Feb. 16 at the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, Premier Boxing Champions announced on Tuesday. The non-televised bout will be part of the PBC on Fox card topped by the featherweight titlist Leo Santa Cruz’s defense against Rafael Rivera. Licona will be returning to the ring just two months after winning a split decision and a vacant 105-pound belt against Mark Anthony Barriga on Dec. 1 on the Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury undercard. Kriel, who has had all of his bouts in his native South Africa, is unbeaten since dropping a four-round decision in his pro debut in 2014.
