NCAA approves Florida-Miami move to Aug. 24

The Gators and Hurricanes will celebrate the opening of the 150th anniversary season of college football on Aug. 24 and the NCAA approved moving the game up by one week.

Ex-Bama QB commit Beck picks UGA over Florida

ESPN Junior 300 quarterback Carson Beck, who at one point was committed to Alabama, committed to Georgia on Sunday, choosing the Bulldogs over in-state Florida.

No running backs ran the 40-yard dash in under 4.4 seconds at the NFL combine on Friday. Oklahoma State's Justice Hill ran the fastest time, putting up a 4.40, with Temple's Ryquell Armstead (4.45), Florida's Jordan Scarlett (4.47) and Ohio State's Mike Weber (4.47) following Hill. Top-ranked running back Josh Jacobs has a groin injury and did not compete in on-field workouts, but his former Alabama teammate Damien Harris ran a 4.57 in the 40.

Gators, Canes in talks to move opener to Aug. 24

While the change will require NCAA approval, Miami and Florida are discussing whether to move their season opener up a week to Aug. 24. If moved, the game would serve as a prime-time kickoff for the sport's 150th season.

Florida flipped ESPN 300 defensive end Khris Bogle from Alabama on Wednesday. Bogle is the No. 155 ranked recruit in the 2019 class and had been considering switching his commitment to either Florida or Miami. Now in the class, the Gators have 12 ESPN 300 commitments.

Florida hires UTSA's Turner as D-line coach

Florida has hired David Turnerm who worked with Gators coach Dan Mullen for four seasons at Mississippi State, as defensive line coach. Turner worked last year at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
