Clemson backup quarterback Zerrick Cooper will transfer, leaving Hunter Johnson and early enrollee Trevor Lawrence to push Kelly Bryant for the starting job in the spring. Johnson was the No. 21 rated player in the 2017 class and Lawrence is the No. 2 player in the 2018 class so the Tigers should have a heated competition for the starting job.

The ACC released the 2018 schedule, and what stands out the most about Clemson's schedule? After a bye week, the Tigers have to play their three toughest Atlantic opponents three straight weeks: NC State (Oct. 20) at Florida State (Oct. 27) and Louisville (Nov. 3).

Dabo Swinney told ESPN back in September that he built the Clemson program from the inside out, which should be on display next season more than ever with Christian Wilkins, Austin Bryant and Clelin Ferrell all returning to school to join Dexter Lawrence on the Tigers' defensive line. All four are projected as NFL first-round selections, and there are a couple of younger players on the roster that could push that total to seven or more future pros on next season's Clemson defensive line.
