Elon promotes DC Trisciani to head coach

Elon has promoted defensive coordinator Tony Trisciani to head coach, replacing Curt Cignetti who left to take over at James Madison.

James Madison has hired Elon University's Curt Cignetti as its next head coach. Cignetti went 14-9 with two FCS playoff appearances in two seasons with Elon and has a 67-26 overall record as a college head coach. He replaces Mike Houston, who left for the top job at East Carolina. Cignetti also been an assistant for five FBS programs, most recently as Alabama's wide receivers coach from 2007 to 2010.

Elon coach Skrosky resigns to join FIU staff

Rich Skrosky resigned Tuesday after three seasons as Elon coach to join Butch Davis' staff at FIU. Skrosky was 7-27 while leading Elon's transition into CAA Football.

The college football season is barely two hours old and we've already got our first long-distance TD run. Wake Forest's John Wolford dodged Elon's entire defense on this 70-yard scamper.

Wake Forest just went on an 11-play, 90-yard scoring drive, ending with a Matt Colburn 2-yard rushing TD to go up 17-0 on Elon. It's early, and the bar is set low, and it's only Elon, but the Demon Deacons are hitting on all cylinders in the first half.
