Former Alabama DE Da'Shawn Hand went head-to-head with Derrius Guice, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel this season. But he said the toughest RB he faced was Kerryon Johnson. "That dude Kerryon Johnson. Slippery. Magician. I respect him. He can run that ball." ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. has Johnson as the 10th best RB available.

It's difficult to imagine a more seamless assistant coaching change than Auburn losing offensive line coach Herb Hand to Texas and bringing back JB Grimes as his replacement. Grimes coached the same position at Auburn from 2013-15. "I'm excited about JB," coach Gus Malzahn said. "We know exactly what we're getting. He's one of the best teachers I've been around in the 28 years I've been coaching. I know our players are excited to have him back."

Kodi Burns, whose contract was set to expire at the end of this month, will be back as Auburn's wide receivers coach, Gus Malzahn said. "He's going to be at Auburn for a long time," Malzahn said from the Senior Bowl on Tuesday.

Texas announces it has hired Auburn's Herb Hand as co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach. Hand last held a coordinator role at Tulsa before heading to Vanderbilt, Penn State and then Auburn. Auburn announces it will replace Hand with J.B. Grimes, who returns to the Tigers from UConn. Grimes coached Auburn's offensive line from 2013 to 2015.

Jacksonville State signs ex-Auburn TE Rice

Former Auburn tight end Landon Rice has signed with Jacksonville State. Auburn dismissed Rice from the team as a freshman after a woman said he raped her. In April 2017, a Lee County grand jury declined to indict Rice.

ESPN 300 athlete Harold Joiner confirmed that he has committed to Auburn. Joiner, the No. 94 ranked prospect overall, visited the Tigers this weekend and made his commitment. Auburn now has 11 ESPN 300 commitments in the 2018 class.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn is a finalist for the Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Award following the Tigers' SEC West title and a 10-4 season. The winner will be announced tonight in Houston.
