Moos jokes Harbaugh, Urban 'bit scared' of Frost

Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos says he was speaking "a bit tongue in cheek" when he said the hiring of head football coach Scott Frost has left Big Ten coaching stalwarts Jim Harbaugh and Urban Meyer "running a little bit scared" of the Huskers.

Lots of wins for Nebraska in Scott Frost's first recruiting class, but no storyline more important for the future than the Cornhuskers' last-day victories for coveted prospects in Florida (OT Will Canty), Georgia (DE Caleb Tannor), Alabama (DB Cam Taylor) and Texas (RB Maurice Washington). That's never happened in Lincoln.

Nebraska sold 57,342 tickets today for its April 21 spring game, as of 4:30 p.m. CT. The school announced that a minimum of 10,000 tickets — at $10 apiece — will be made available to the general public on Wednesday. Today was for season-ticket holders only, with availability later in the day to fans on a season-ticket waiting list. Clearly, it will sell out on Wednesday.

More Frost Fever at Nebraska as fans gather to buy seats for the April 21 spring game. Tickets went on sale this morning to season-ticket holders only. The public can purchase tickets on Wednesday. In coach Scott Frost's first spring, a sellout at Memorial Stadium is likely. A better question: Will it sell out this week?

Zack Darlington is trading his football cleats for Army boots, the former Nebraska quarterback wrote Tuesday on Twitter. Darlington was recruited to Nebraska in 2014 out of Apopka, Florida and played briefly as a backup QB and receiver, finding his role as the Huskers' holder on place kicks over the past two seasons. He wrote that he has long dreamt to serve his country in the military.

New coaches face annual recruiting challenges

The uncertainty that surrounds a coaching change often leads to trouble on the recruiting trail, but a few new coaches have risen to the challenge.

The Nebraska spring game is set for April 21, a week later than originally planned. Reserved seats are $10 and will go on sale Feb. 6 to season-ticket holders; a day later for the general public. The school deftly notes in its news release that the spring-game attendance record at Nebraska is 80,149, set in 2008, months after Bo Pelini was hired. Very good chance that record will be broken. #FrostEffect
