Agent: Portis, Bulls fail to reach extension

Chicago Bulls forward Bobby Portis will likely become a restricted free agency in July, failing to reach a rookie contract extension before the Monday afternoon deadline, agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Zach LaVine on Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins' work ethic: Kat (Towns) and Wigs (Wiggins) are some of my good friends. Wigs just had his newborn baby and congratulations to him on that. And Kat is a really laid back dude, but they are extremely competitive at the same time. They work hard. I feel like they are getting some flack in the media because some people are saying they don't work hard. People in the organization are saying that. But I think they are extremely hard workers. Whenever I am in the gym, they are too. I have seen Wigs go back late night after games that he didn't play well and go get shots up too. So, I think they are proven players in the NBA for sure. I think they will be just fine."

I asked Zach LaVine if he is paying attention to the events unfolding with his former team in Minnesota. He said: "I feel like everybody is paying attention to it at some point because it goes across your ticker so much right now. But they are in a situation, I feel like that is professional sports though. You get hit with adversity. They are dealing with it the way they feel is best."

Tarik Cohen, LaDainian Tomlinson (2003 Weeks 14-15) and David Johnson (2016 Weeks 12-13) are the only three RBs this century to have at least seven receptions and 90 receiving yards in consecutive games. Cohen is on pace for 67 receptions and a 5.3 yards-per-carry average.

The Bears had plenty of chances to finish off the Dolphins, but costly mistakes and conservative play calling in overtime allowed Miami to escape with a 31-28 victory. The Bears turned the ball over twice, spoiling a good second half by quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who passed for 316 yards and three touchdowns. This loss is a reality check for the Bears, who now sit at 3-2 on the year.

The 10 teams most likely to reach the playoff, according to ESPN's Playoff Predictor. Georgia (27%) is still alive after its loss to LSU. For the Tigers it was not only the win but the way they won -- handily -- that put them on the board.

Disappointing first half for the Bears, who trail the Dolphins 7-0, despite coming off a bye, and facing Miami's backup quarterback Brock Osweiler. The Bears have yet to sack Osweiler, who at 6-foot-7 is a big target in the pocket. But the more alarming issue for Chicago has been the offense. Coming off a six-touchdown performance vs. Tampa, Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky is just 9 of 14 for 89 yards. Trubisky looks off on most of his throws, and jittery in the pocket.

Strength of Record top 10: strictly a measure a accomplishment this season. Achieving a 6-1 record with LSU's schedule was more difficult than going undefeated thus far with Clemson or Alabama's schedule.
