All three judges had the fight for Valdez 119-108, 116-111 and 118-109. "I'm just happy I won the fight," said Valdez. Asked about a though Round 12, Valdez said, "I wasn't hurt, but I did feel his punches. I'm glad I won the fight." Valdez said he would like to unify titles with the other champions in the division, Leo Santa Cruz, Gary Russell Jr. and Lee Selby.
